Delicious Spaghetti Bolognaise Recipe

Who doesn’t look a good spag bol? It’s the favourite dinner optin for so many families and this week at Watos we have premium beef mince on special offer at just $5/kg!

Here’s one of our favourite ways to eat mince…


1 tablespoon olive oil

2 large chopped onions

3 large garlic cloves, crushed

100g chopped pancetta or bacon bits

1kg beef mince

2 cups beef stock

1 cup red wine

3 x 400g cans diced tomatoes

1/4 cup tomato paste

500g spaghetti


  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over a medium heat and cook onions, garlic and pancetta / bacon until brown (about 5 mins).
  2. Turn the heat up and add pieces of the mince slowly. Stir until meat has turned brown.
  3. Add beef stock, red wine, diced tomatoes and tomato paste. Bring to the boil.
  4. Lower heat and simmer for about an hour, only stirring occasionally.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Cook spaghetti in boiling, salted water until al dente. Drain.
  7. Spoon some of the bolognaise sauce into the cooked spaghetti and stir.
  8. Service spaghetti and add extra sauce on top with grated parmesan.
